It has been hardly two weeks since the latest rage in town, the KC outlet on bank road, opened and it had to be closed down on Wednesday after protests from various groups over its management of waste disposal. Activists from various corners got together in front of the outlet along with a collection of all the wastes allegedly dumped by KFC all over the city. A first of its kind in the city, food festival is being held at Kadavu Resort till May 29th every evening from 7.30 pm. Cuisines from Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Tibetan can be savored under one roof.

Flower lovers are getting to witness some exotic and potted plant and flowers at the Marine Ground near the beach. The Green Indian Rotary Pushpotsav – 2011 which in on till Aril 25 is spellbinding the visitors with hues of red, green and yellow. Leading horticulturists and nursery plant owners of the district are taking part in this show.Over 200 vaireties of roses, different varieties of Dahlia, cactus, bonsai etc. are in full bllom at the show.

The 14th edition of the Malabar Mahotsavam is scheduled to be held from February 11-15 in Calicut. The festival will this time be organised as a Malabar-Chinese-Arabian event. The venues for the events are:- Beach Open Stage, Town hall, Model Higher Secondary School ground and Padmashree auditorium. A food festival with 20 stalls catering Chinese and Arabian food is also being organised in the beach near the Lions Park.
